We’re not big on movie premieres where the red carpet consists of a few celebs in casual gowns, but the premiere for Maleficent was like an absolute fairy tale. Wednesday Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning hit the carpet wearing gowns that seemed inspired by their Disney characters. Jolie, having channeled Maleficent throughout the film’s promotion with monochromatic black ensembles, saved the best for last and wore a black, leather Versace ball gown to the premiere. Arriving with fiancé Brad Pitt and five of their six children in tow (surprisingly not bringing their daughter Vivienne who plays a young Aurora in the film), the couple looked beautiful together; Pitt dressed in a matching black Gucci suit. It seems prankster Vitalii Sediuk attacked Pitt on the red carpet (this is the same guy who stuck his head under America Ferrera’s dress at Cannes), but it didn’t seem to put a damper on the event.
Elle Fanning, on the other hand, looked every bit a princess in an off-the-shoulder, lilac Elie Saab haute couture gown (with a train that would befit royalty) and a diamond Neil Lane choker. The younger sister of movie star Dakota Fanning, the 16-year-old actress plays Princess Aurora and told the Daily Mail she was excited to embody the role. “Of course you dream of being a princess. I’m getting to play a princess, which I never would’ve thought. I’ve had the best time, it’s really incredible.”
