Give Your Home Gym a High Tech Upgrade With Life Fitness' Premium Flexstrider

Own It
BY : Marissa Stempien | 2015

If there’s one thing we love about a personal gym it’s the ability to sweat, grunt and curse to our hearts content all in the privacy of our own home. But if your home gym is no longer feeling like your own little ass-kicking oasis due to dated (or non-existent) equipment, it might be time to treat yourself to something new. Life Fitness just released the Flexstrider, a premium at-home elliptical-type machine that allows users to walk, run, jog or stride their way to a better body. The new machine offers pre-programmed workouts, resistance control selections, internet connectivity and a tablet console to make a total body workout out (almost) seem fun. Equipped with interactive Lifescape courses that simulate treks though famous locations and trails, the machine will automatically adjust for speed, incline and resistance and track your progress as you make your way toward your fitness goals. If you’re not one for simulated mountain hikes, you could always connect the tablet to your smart phone, social media or TV if you’d rather just watch the latest Avengers. Totally up to you.

Peloton Connects You to the Best Cycling Classes From Your Living Room

Own It
BY : Marissa Stempien | 2015

One of the things we hate most about exercising (aside from actually exercising) is that it can be a little intimidating. If you don’t already belong to a Soulcycle, CrossFit or some type of yoga-hybrid group, then trying to jump into a class just before summer might be a little awkward—especially if you’re new to the routine. Well now you can get beach-ready at home, but still enjoy all the perks of a group class. Peloton bike is an exercise machine that connects you to live and on-demand, high-energy classes from the comfort of your living room. Taught by the best instructors in New York, you can sign up for a live class to take alone or with Facebook friends, or you can join a pre-recorded class anytime you feel the need for a little sweat.

The bike itself is designed to be comfortable, nearly silent and uses magnetic resistance rather than brake pads for a smother and stronger ride, but the partnered tablet is the real selling point. In addition to taking group fitness classes you can connect and compete with friends and the Peloton community, keep track of your progress, ride video trails through national parks around the world, or even take classes from pro cyclers that have won numerous medals and finished multiple Tour de France races.

The Best Vegan, Organic and Eco-Friendly Beauty Buys for Earth Day

Personally I’ve never been a fan of beauty that’s organic, natural or eco-friendly—I attribute this to my hippie parents where anything “natural” is immediately associated with the scent of patchouli oil. But now that...
