Roche Bobois: Leader In Contemporary Interior Design

Home Decor: Throughout 2009, Roche Bobois paid tribute to materials both classic and innovative in each of their furniture designs. From wood and marble to lacquer and textiles, designers took advantage of the design world’s focus on organic thought and execution and produced some of their most outstanding collections yet.

Upon the launch of their first nationwide advertising campaign in Elle magazine, Roche Bobois became recognized as a leading brand name in innovative interior design and their success was immense.

As a brand that follows both cultural and design trends, Roche Bobois has remained contemporary by releasing time-relevant designs. In the 1970s, when television sparked a revolution in living room décor and sofas became the dominant furniture piece, Roche Bobois released “Les Contemporains”, the collection focused on avant-garde sofa and armchair design, ideal for turning the living room into the gathering and entertaining center of the home.

In addition to their unique design, created by their exceptional designers, no piece is complete without the integration of your personal touch, preference and accents that will tie the piece into your existing home décor. From choice of shapes, colors, leathers, woods and finishes, you can customize the furniture, ensuring that is a perfect fit for your home and personality.

Collections revealed in 2009 made use of all the design elements we saw emerge as hot concepts throughout the year. Saga by Christophe Delcourt integrated the beauty of natural materials such as oak and Tulip wood to emphasize its strength, enduring capacity, and ability to capture time. This is best seen in “Buffet 4 portes” (4 doors sideboard), which is constructed of lacquered alveolar panels with real slices of oak revealing their aged rings as the sides, all resting on the angular and intersecting legs of solid Tulip wood. The result is sleek, striking, and a testimony to the resilience of natural materials.

Cédric Ragot’s Open Space collection plays on our modern environment of “disappearance” with office pieces adopting a weightless structure. The clean lines of the collection depict sheets of paper held aloft, creating “Open Space”. The collection fully embraces the concept of “living sparsely” and includes desks, high and low cabinetry, the Urbano lamp, and chairs to bring the uncluttered lifestyle into your workspace.

From here, of course, are the rich colors and fabrics in their leather and textile collections. Perfectly composed collections include sofas and bookcases accented with the same leather for cohesive décor as well as the brightly colored armchairs for standout flair.

Roche Bobois has spent its 60-year life creating a name synonymous with up-to-date, top-tier design. Their mission to combine their design expertise with your personal taste and personality has brought them worldwide acclaim. 2010 is sure to bring even more renovations to the design industry, and with their expansive history of staying at the forefront of design trends, Roche Bobois will be there to provide almost limitless options to embrace the design eye in us all.
