Luxury Car News: Here’s a futuristic prototype hybrid from Porsche that is turning its share of heads at the Geneva Motor Show. Just one look at the open top –big-wheel Porsche 918 Spyder and it’s understood why. It is a monster in waiting. However, what is setting many to scratching at their skull is that this hybrid super sports car’s fuel economy is on parity with its high performance.
That’s saying a lot for a car with a top speed 198 mph and a zero-to-62 mph in 3.2 seconds. According to The Local, Porsche claims the 918 goes 100 kilometers (62 miles) on three liters (3.17 quarts) of gasoline. It also emits approximately one-fifth the CO2 emissions of comparable supercars.
Luxury Cars: Being the first four-seat convertible to bear the Maserati trident in the company’s epic 98-year history, it was a pretty high priority that this one turns heads for all the right reasons. Mission accomplished. The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is getting second looks from drivers who demand the ultimate in style, performance, and quality. The overall package is quite impressive, as the GT’s appeal is attracting both men and women of discerning tastes.
Perhaps the greatest feature of the GranTurismo is its balance. It goes beyond having an ideal weight balance, which is attributable to a front mid-engine position. Four full-size adults being able to ride comfortably in a car that accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 176 mph is an intelligently designed machine. It is mind-boggling that a driver and up to three passengers can thoroughly enjoy it without compromising on performance or comfort. That is balance.

Luxury Cars: There is a new look and a new model in the Porsche family. The family guy’s Porsche, that is, the Cayenne, is pulling out all the stops to have the most “ity” of any vehicle in the luxury SUV/crossover class: versatility, agility, and flexibility. It is lighter and sleeker with an elongated hood, new wheel arches, and drawn in flanks. The Cayenne S Hybrid is the new model, joining the fold.
The new models, four in all, also feature a reduction in CO2 emissions and better fuel economy. Performance is better, too. However it appears that Porsche is showing its practical side and reaching out to be viewed more as a daily runner than a fire-breathing, asphalt–melting high performance wonder car that seats 2.5 adults ... with condolences to that unfortunate “0.5” stuffed in the backseat.
