The Austonian: Dogs Pampered at Luxury High Rise

Pet-friendly Luxury Real Estate: Add high-rise luxury property developers to the growing list of businesses that have gone to the dogs. The Austonian, a 56-story condominium development being raised in Austin, Tex., will include an assortment of amenities and services that cater to dog-owning residents. The deluxe property development, which will be the tallest building in downtown Austin when it opens in spring 2010, will include an outdoor pet park, a pet grooming area and a staff of personal assistants available around the clock.

Grupor Villar Mir, the property's developer, is making every effort to reach out to the influx of people moving in to the city from the suburbs who are dog owners. The company has partnered with several pet care specialists. A pet store, a dog grooming service, and a veterinary with boarding and doggy day care will be located in the pet-friendly 10th floor of the Austonian. In-house dog grooming will be available as well as a dog-bathing area that owners can use to clean and groom their canis familiaris.

There is even a sanitary-drainage system that is included in the synthetic-grass surface of the Austonian's outdoor dog park on the 10th floor. The location is pet friendly too, as an off-leash dog park with a doggy pool is just two blocks away.

Humans residing at the posh luxury-high rise will also enjoy the complex, as the dog park is just one part of the Austonian's 40,000 square feet of special amenities. There will be a swimming pool and cabanas, kitchen areas, a 12-seat theater, and a gym. An area for events or parties for up to 200 guests will be available on the 55th floor.

The Austonian will be the tallest residential building in the western U.S. It is being built in the center of downtown Austin adjacent to the area's popular 2nd Street District.
