Boston's Fan Pier is the hottest new location in the city with restaurants, shops and now salons popping up all over the area. Salon Mario Russo recently opened a second location at the Fan Pier and offers the same services that the Newbury Street location does but in a sleek brand new space.
While its location is somewhat unobtrusive set back on the water and on the first floor of the LouisBoston space, Salon Mario Russo opened last October and has been making a name for itself in the area since. As soon as you walk in the door, you will quickly be transformed to a South Beach style space complete with a near all-white and silver interior lined by mirrors.
Mario Russo grew up in Formia, Italy where his bedroom window overlooked a grove of olive trees. He saw his grandmother use olive oil as a cure-all for hair and skin care ailments and formed his inspiration for his product line on her beauty secrets. Since then, Russo has based his line on the healthful benefits of olive oil.
I visited the salon on a recent afternoon and met with Josh Truax, a master colorist, who entered the industry in 2001. He has attended many color specific workshops ranging from color lines, Wella Professional, Goldwell and L'Oreal so I knew I was in good hands.
After just a short time, he created natural caramel color highlights that perfectly complemented my dark hair with a look of being out in the sun for an extended time.
Whether you are looking for foil highlights, gloss, a single process color or multi-dimensional highlights, Truax will listen to your request and color desires and deliver an amazing result.
After the color was set, washed, rinsed, glossed and ready to be dried, Truax showed me over to stylist Ariana for a blow out and straightening (which is no easy accomplishment when you have curly hair like me). Her affable personality and quality styling had me already looking forward to my next visit.
