If you thought McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant was just about seafood for dinner, think again. We visited the Providence, Rhode Island location recently (about an hour drive south of Boston) and were surprised to find out they offer an extensive breakfast and delicious lunch menu as well.
For appetizers, we selected the assorted rich dips, which included an addicting mushroom goat cheese and savory tomato hummus paired up with soft warm flat breads. The five jumbo shrimp cocktail was enormous and fresh served with a spicy horseradish cocktail sauce. Other raw appetizers included oysters on the half shell from Nova Scotia, Rhode Island and Prince Edward Island, littleneck clams from Narragansett and ahi tuna tartare prepared tableside.
Moving right along, the parmesan crusted sole was deliciously fresh served with a light lemon caper butter served atop a bed of orzo with crisp vegetables. The Kobe burger was enormous and cooked to a medium rare perfection topped with creamy gruyere cheese served with a side of crispy onion rings. The spicy beef wrap was just as good, filled with grilled tenderloin and complemented by a nice fire roasted corn salsa.
If you are looking for something lighter, don’t miss their good selection of entrée salads, which included everything from a Santa Fe shrimp or lobster cobb to ahi Nicoise and blackened salmon Caesar. We can’t wait to check out the cashew crusted tilapia, which sounded amazing served with sweet potato couscous and Jamaican rum butter. For dessert, the upside down apple pie, which was quickly devoured, is an absolute must here served with creamy cinnamon ice cream.
This location really hit high marks with us for its attentive service, including Manager Mark Phillips, who was often seen throughout the dining room checking on guest’s satisfaction.
