Cabo San Lucas Culture: Galeria de Ida Victoria is a beautiful tri-level art gallery located in the heart of San José del Cabo's historic district. It is a spectacular building that stays true to the Mexican colonial style of the neighborhood on the facade, but the interior is a grand and modern space with state of the art lighting and hanging systems.
The gallery's design was a collaboration of two architects, Jesús Manriquez from La Paz, Mexico and Pat Barry from Washington DC. They had a unique challenge of taking an old, one story adobe building and transforming it into a beautiful space with tons of natural light, designed specifically to showcase works of art.
The gallery is unique in that it has high ceilings to hang large works as well as areas to display smaller works and sculpture. The space is extremely versatile, allowing the gallery to feature special solo or group shows as well as display other pieces not involved in an exhibition.
The gallery is also equipped with a state of the art projection system for weekly lectures on the history of Mexican art and special programs on artists and periods of art history. |
