After a $1 billion renovation and expansion six years ago, Fontainebleau Miami Beach has just redesigned four of their most luxurious suites. The property has been continuously improving, upgrading and making everything we love about the iconic hotel even better. Most recently they called in design expert Janice Clausen to revamp their most gorgeous, over-the-top suites. Nicknamed La Baie, Le Sable, La Mer and Le Ciel, each one has been given its own personal touch while keeping in line with the luxurious experience we’ve come to expect from Fontainebleau.
“Although each suite has its own distinctive flavor and room plan, they are all designed with an eye to appeal to the sophisticated well-traveled guest,” Clausen explained to JustLuxe. “Softness and elegance is brought into the contemporary designs with the use of wood furnishings of the best designs by Italian furniture manufacturers including Giorgetti and Minotti. The color palette of warm neutrals and shimmering fabrics selected for texture over pattern provide an airy background for magnificent ocean views. Maintaining an edge of the Fontainebleau from the bold 1960s, the art program is comprised of large, bold abstracts.”
Each suite has panoramic oceanfront views, large living and dining areas, and private balconies. To give them a sense of personality they’ve each been designed with different furniture pieces, layouts and most particularly, art. In a city that is known for celebrating eclectic design and modern art, each room has been outfitted with unique pieces that speak to their individual aesthetic. Set on a neutral background, contemporary paintings, sculptures and conceptual designs have been added to multiple rooms of each suite.
“In La Baie, an installation of three-dimensional exaggerated water droplets in metallic gunmetal finish cover an area eight feet wide by six feet high. Oversized canvases in vivid yellows and reds by a local Miami artist are featured at the dining and study areas,” noted Clausen. “Opposite of the custom bronze mirror at the entry, La Mer visitors are welcomed by the suite’s notable blue-green accent in a large canvas illustrating an abstract composition commuting suggestions of the surrounding tropical environment. Additionally, Le Sable’s Dining and Living areas are presided by a giant, eight foot by eight foot square blue abstract in acrylic on stretched canvas by Florida artist and environmentalist, Margaret Ross Tolbert, inspired by Florida’s natural fresh water springs.”
