Philadelphia Things To Do: Standing tall in Philly's Society Hill neighborhood is the Powel House museum. This elegant home once belonged to the first mayor of the city after the American Revolution, where he often entertained guests whose names are now commonplace in the texts of American History.
The museum features a walled garden, ballroom, many portraits of the family, and has been called one of America's finest existing examples of a Georgian Colonial townhouse. So fine, in fact, that Martha and George Washington held their 20th wedding anniversary celebration here.
