The Cliveden, or Benjamin Chew House, is a historic mansion in Germantown that was the site of some of the bloodiest fighting during the American Revolutionary War. Today, the mansion is a National Historic Landmark and operates as a museum with tours during most of the year.
The exterior of the house was built in the Georgian style that dominates most of this area of Philadelphia, but the inside is known for its fine woodwork. Surrounding the Cliveden are lush gardens full of hidden statues.
