San Diego Culture: The neighborhood of Old Town in San Diego hosts the cultural remains of the region's first mission, founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1769. This area, located in the geographical heart of the city, features many historical buildings and monuments.

Site of the first Spanish settlement in California, Old Town today retains much of its Spanish culture with over 150 shops and award-winning restaurants. There are also several hotels and art galleries here, and the area's central location makes it a popular attraction.
