San Diego Culture: Cabrillo National Monument commemorates the landing of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo on Point Loma for the first time. From this monument, visitors can learn about California's early days and take in the view of the harbor and downtown skyline. The memorial's centerpiece is a 14-foot-tall statue of Cabrillo looking out to sea.

Adjacent to the monument itself is a museum about the discovery of California, as well as the popular and iconic Old Point Loma Lighthouse. You can even see some of Mexico's beachside villages in the distance from Point Loma.
