The Spring Festival Holiday in Beijing was a resounding success, bringing in just shy of 9 million visitors and an impressive 3 billion yuan economic boost, a nearly 15% boost over last year's income according to the Beijing Travel Committee. It was Beijing's historical and cultural attractions, specifically the Great Wall and local temples, which served as the greatest draw for tourists.
Visitors to Beijing have enjoyed the toll-free expressway policy during the golden week of the Spring Festival holiday. The city received a total number of 8.68 million visitors, 7.5 percent higher than that in the same period of last year.
Beijing’s tourism income over the week reached 3.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.7 percent, according to the statistics from the Beijing Travel Committee.
Most expressways in the country were going toll-free for passenger cars with fewer than seven seats during the holiday period.
