Washington Culture: For over two centuries, the White House has stood as a pristine, gleaming beacon of freedom and home to the most powerful person in the world, the President of the United States of America. Designed by James Hoban, the White House features grand neoclassical columns and Palladian appointments on the exterior.

The White House offers tours of the building on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours must be scheduled through one's Member of Congress or respective embassy, and requests may be submitted up to six months in advance, but no later than three weeks before the desired date.
