Gotta love Down Under!! Australia and New Zealand are great for sun and sand, especially in our chilly months. Thailand, Bali, and Singapore are also great locations before Feb, not to mention Hong Kong ;)
New Zealand is absolutely stupendous- either the North or South (or both!) Islands. Vibrant cities or rolling countrysides, white sand beaches or private coves, the scenic vistas seen in Lord of the Rings and other films are not to be missed. From bungee jumping to jet rafting, helicopter glacier tours to sailing in the Bay of Islands, a perfect sun-filled vacation is to be had. For something truly unique, check out the Hot Water Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula.
If heading to Australia, Manly Beach is a great ferry boat ride away from Sydney. While in the city, don't miss The Rocks shopping area, the Toronga Zoo is also spectacular- home to rare captive platypus, fuzzy koala, and interesting echidna. If being on the water is what you love, this is the place to be, a perfect blend of sun, city, and stunning sand.
Hope you find your fun in the sun! Can't wait to read about it.
I suggest building relationships with the restaurants- you will always receive great service if they know who you are in advance and you've already done something nice for the restaurant that you are wanting to impress your clients with. Whether that is planning your next family outing there, writing a piece on the place, or sending some great business their way, you're sure to have a better and detailed-oriented experience when you are trying to look good for your own clients for using the restaurant. Amazing relationships can be built with some of the top places in town, but it certainly takes time!! Good luck and I hope it all goes well!
I really enjoyed my experience at the W. From the xyz Bar to the super fantastic spa, the central location coupled with the ulta-chic property made for a fantastic stay! W is part of Starwood Hotels, such as Westin, and have fantastic eco-friendly programs such as points for not accepting room service and owning several LEED certified hotels. Off topic, but if looking for one of the BEST sushi restaurants I've ever been to in San Francisco- go to Zushi Puzzle- order the Live Clams (not on the menu) they are prepared in a lemon juice and tempura-ed tentacles which will knock your socks off.
Fascinating! I've always wanted to go and have had family visit Dubai and a friend live in Abu Dabi (sp?). Looks like a magical spot. Look forward to visiting someday soon.
