Insider: It was a male bonding week in Las Vegas for Mel Gibson.
The actor, his son young Tommy and two friends flew into town mid-July for a midsummer bonding vacation far from the media glare.
The actor and director skipped the nightlights for a revealing show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino, BODIES...The Exhibition. He and his son spent more than 90 minutes getting a private tour from one of the exhibition's docents. Gibson, always a stickler for details, asked the docent quite a few informed questions and also quizzed his son during the tour. But it wasn't all serious stuff. Mel's famous funny side showed up as he couldn't help but crack a few jokes while playing with the treasures in the touch booth, using a tibia as a bat.
Later that night Gibson and the guys got a good laugh at Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands at the Wynn Las Vegas. He must have liked it as he went backstage to talk to the ventriloquist and take pics.
Gibson was not seen with his new girlfriend, Russia-born singer Oksana Grigorieva, the 39-year-old trained pianist who is pregnant with Gibson's eighth child.
