More than a museum, the Royal Academy of Arts is also a school and exhibition hall that promotes up-and-coming artists from around the world. During their Summer Exhibition, which has taken place annually since 1769, they hold an open-entry casting call in which any artist can submit their artwork for selection. Around 1000 entries are chosen, displaying the work of new and established artists alike.
Founded in 1768, the RA is Britain's first art school, and continues to hold classes today. With their free tuition and international reputation, their post-graduate study is extraordinarily competitive, especially with an alumni that includes some of the finest modern artists.
