The brand new Belgraves, a
Thompson Hotel, just opened its doors on Chesham Place in London’s Belgravia; the latest addition to a much-loved district that has always been one of the legendary city’s go-to locales.
The Duke of Westminster, Chopin and Mozart, Ian Fleming, Sean Connery and Roger Moore, and Nigella Lawson and Elle Macpherson have all called it home, and some of the city's finest shops and restaurants can be found there. The hotel's lead designer, Tara Bernerd of Tara Bernerd & Partners, describes the aesthetic as "today's rough luxury," a nip of New York attitude allied to traditional British hospitality with a bohemian flair. Belgrave adds to the area's attractions
with a featured 85 rooms and suites, a restaurant, and a bar including a stately lounge lobby.
The bedrooms are finished with textured palettes of natural grey tones and the open loft-style lobby features a large fireplace, houses dramatic art installations, and contains a library off to one side. Also located off the lobby is Hix Belgravia, an 80-seat restaurant with a menu inspired by renowned chef and food writer Mark Hix’s global travels. The mezzanine level is the setting for Mark’s Bar, the second of Hix’s on-premises establishments, and leads to a chic cigar garden. In-room amenities include Rococo chocolates and Coco De Mer intimacy boxes. Rates start at £336 (approximately $525) per room per night for a King Superior. Visit
